Voice Packs, Dub Packs and other mods
Voice Packs are the core content: collections of WAV, MP3 or OGG clips that players imitate. Since version 0.5.0, the in-game metadata editor can add captions, tags, icons, descriptions and authors. A Dub Pack is an advanced Voice Pack with timing metadata and an OGV video named dub_video.ogv; it still belongs in packs_voice.
WAV, MP3 or OGG clips under 60 seconds can form a working pack.
Dub Mode requires timestamp metadata and dub_video.ogv.
Use Extras → Edit Voice Packs & Clip Metadata in 0.5.x.
Authors, licences, safety and version support vary by upload.
How to install a Voice Pack or Dub Pack
- Make a backup. Copy your current game data folder or at least
packs_voicebefore changing it. - Extract the archive. Open the ZIP, RAR or 7Z in a temporary folder. Do not copy the unopened archive into the game.
- Inspect the top level. You want one clearly named pack folder containing media and metadata, not several nested copies of the same folder.
- Use the in-game folder opener. From the main menu, open the game files and enter
packs_voice. - Copy one pack folder. Install only one new pack before testing so any load error has one likely cause.
- Check the load-error tab. In 0.5.x, read the pack selection screen's error information before renaming or moving more files.
How to use GameBanana more safely
GameBanana has a dedicated community hub for The Choicer Voicer, but it is not the developer's official download host. Treat each upload as third-party content and make your own safety decision.
- Start from the dedicated The Choicer Voicer GameBanana hub, then check the uploader, update history, issues and comments.
- Read the category. A Voice Pack or Dub Pack should primarily contain media and metadata; a separate tool may contain an executable and deserves a higher level of scrutiny.
- Scan the downloaded archive with your normal security software before extraction. Our checker below is not an antivirus.
- Do not replace the game executable for an ordinary content pack. Do not disable antivirus because an uploader asks you to.
- Keep the original archive and a backup until the pack has loaded, played and been removed successfully.
- Check copyright and sharing permission before streaming or redistributing clips from films, shows or other creators.
Local browser tool
Pack structure checker and install wizard
Select an extracted pack folder. The checker reads filenames and folder paths in this browser only; it does not upload files, open their media content, or certify that a download is malware-free.
Install path guide
- Open The Choicer Voicer and use the main-menu button that opens the game files. This is safer than guessing a path.
- Open
packs_voice. Both Voice Packs and Dub Packs belong there. - Extract the download first, then place one top-level pack folder inside
packs_voice. Do not place the ZIP itself there. - Restart the game or refresh its pack list, then read the load-error tab before moving more files.
Community-observed fallback: C:\Users\<you>\AppData\Roaming\YeahMaybe\ChocierVoicer\game\packs_voice. The project folder is reported with the spelling ChocierVoicer; prefer the in-game opener because this path is not an official guarantee.
Common pack errors
The pack does not appear
Confirm that you extracted the archive, copied the actual pack folder into packs_voice, and did not create an extra path such as packs_voice/MyPack/MyPack/audio.wav.
The game says “No voices in this pack”
Confirm that at least one WAV, MP3 or OGG file is present and under 60 seconds. If the same clip exists in multiple formats with the same stem, keep one intended file while testing.
A Dub Pack works as audio but not in Dub Mode
Look for dub_video.ogv and valid timestamp metadata. The official guide says the pack fails to load in Dub Mode when the expected OGV is missing.
Frequently asked questions
Can this checker open a ZIP?
No. It intentionally checks an extracted local folder without uploading it. Extract first so you can inspect exactly what would be installed.
Does a green result mean the mod is safe?
No. It means the visible folder structure passes basic game-specific checks. It cannot detect malware, harmful media, copyright problems or broken in-game metadata.
Where do Dub Packs go?
Inside packs_voice, not a separate packs_dub folder.
