Step 1 — Inspect before touching anything
Read the request and confirm the gadget on the workbench. Note its name, the requested outcome, any state the UI calls out, and the cash available for parts. This prevents you from completing a plausible action that the current order never requested.
Step 2 — Disassemble in a controlled order
Follow the available interactions and keep removed parts organised when the interface allows it. Do not copy a real-world screw sequence unless the game clearly uses it and the sequence has been reproduced in the current build.
If the interaction stops responding, capture the device, display setup, system, and exact step. The official patch addressed an IDM-device disassembly error and some ultrawide disassembly bugs.
Step 3 — Clean the device
Complete the in-game cleaning interaction and watch for its state change. If a part remains dirty or unchecked, reread the order, inspect the work area and inventory, and check whether the game is waiting for another interaction.
The patch notes mention gadgets becoming stuck in the sonic bath. A similar forum report is useful for finding cases, but is not proof of a universal fix.
Step 4 — Replace faulty parts
When the game identifies a faulty part, use its parts or marketplace flow to obtain the replacement. Track the upfront cost before purchasing. This is where a repair becomes a shop-management decision.
Step 5 — Reassemble and confirm
Reassemble through the available prompts, then check for an uncleaned component, a selected part that was not installed, an item left in the work area, or a mail/order state that has not refreshed.
Common failure states
Will not disassemble
Check the build and display setup. IDM and ultrawide issues appear in official patch notes.
Stuck in sonic bath
Update first, then reload only if reversible. Record the device if it persists.
Extra part or bolt
A current Atari report is a community lead, not an official general rule.
Order not recognised
Check cleaning, installed parts, inventory, mail, orders, and current patch.
